Genetically modified viruses, HIV, small pox, measles, and the cold virus, are used to treat cancer without the patients contracting the original virus. The engineered viruses go after the cancer cells and don’t damage cells around the cancer. The viruses penetrate past the protein which hides the cancer cells from the immune system.
